Introducing a Casino GameChemin de Fer
Play with Five PlayersThen the other players decide individually how much of that bank they want to fade. For example, let’s say there are five players at the table. You decide to sit down; you become the banker and put up $500. But the other players take only $20 apiece of your action, so only $100 of the $500 has been faded. You win the hand and the house takes its 5 percent. Now you have $595 in the bank. But this time the five other players want to fade you only $10 apiece. Let’s say you win the next four or five hands in a row with the other players fading you from $5 to $20 apiece each time. You have won a few hundred dollars. Whoopee! Had you been playing baccarat or punto banco, you would have won several thousand dollars. In those games the casino fades all bets up to the house limit (usually $2,000 or more). That should be reason enough never to sit down at a chemin de fer table. Manage the GameLet’s start all over and say you sat down, became the bank, put up $500, the other players faded you $20 apiece, but you lost the first band. The five other players would be paid $20 apiece out of your bank and the bank would move on to the next player because you lost. The bank moves to the next player whenever it loses. Now let’s say the next player puts only $10 in the bank. That’s his privilege, and it’s often done by smaller players who want to nip away at the big fish. (That’s you!) Now you are stuck with $100 with little chance of getting it back unless another big player sits down and gets the bank, or you win one hell of a lot of hands. Okay; you fade the new banker his $10 and you lose. Now he has $20 in the bank, but instead of letting the $20 ride he puts $10 in his pocket, leaving only $10 in the bank. In chemin de fer, the banker, if he wins, can put as much as he wishes in the bank again. Nevada casinos tried chemin de fer before they installed baccarat and found out the hard way what a poor game it is. At first they thought they only had to take their 5 percent cut of the winnings and let the players worry about getting faded. But the owners quickly found out that the games didn’t last long enough for the clubs to make any money. The small Casino players collected at the tables waiting for the big fish to enter the game, and then they all took shots at him. If the small players lost a few hands, they would get up and leave. The big player never could get even or win much. The would game quickly break up, and the Nevada casino owners realized chemin de fer was becoming a nuisance. |

If you are playing this system in Europe at a French roulette wheel, you have to be exceptionally careful because most players use the same type of chip on French wheels. |
